The BEST Back To School Supplies and Advice!!
Okay, so first of all, who decided that summer’s so short? I blinked and were already halfway through it. But if we're going to be forced back to structure and learning in a month, we might as well have fun doing it. So here’s some of my favorite back-to-school supplies that will literally save you this school year.
FRESH NOTEBOOKS
This is SOOO important for your note taking. Trust me, last year I got cheap and boring notebooks that didn’t feel fresh, and I had NO motivation to actually take any notes (so i didnt…). Get notebooks that feel fresh and that you actually kind of want to write in. I personally love the 5 subject college ruled 5 star ones, because the covers are SUPER strong so they dont rip like some other ones do, they have folders inside so you can shove papers in you're notebook instead of taking out you're actual folder, and they have so many pages so you never run out all year and you can use one notebook to study fir you're final
GOOD PENS
This kinda also applies to note taking, but having good pens that don't smudge and make your handwriting so much better are the best. Ive tried all types of pens, and they all either run out of ink too fast, smear, or just dont write well. Personally I have found that the only pens that work for me are the Pentel Energel Gel Pens. They have a smaller tip so they write really smooth, and the ink NEVER smudges and one of those pens lasted me almost the whole entire school year last year.
CUTE HIGHLIGHTERS
Again, applying to note taking, but highlighting you're notes are so so important for 2 reasons. One, they help with remembering major topics or key points, and two, they make you're notes more aesthetically pleasing when you need to actually read over them before a test. And as a bonus, it makes note taking a little bit more fun. Theres so many different highlighters out there, and I actually like a lot of different ones, but there are 2 that I absolutely love. The first one is the Mildliner Dual Tip highlighters which basically everyone has, but they work so well and they last me usually 2 full school years. They have such a wide range of color selections too! The only downside to these is that they are kind of expensive. Thats why my second, more cost effective, option is the Pastel BIC Highlighters. The colors of this pastel pack is so cute, and it comes with pastel yellow, peach, blue, purple, pink, and green, and its half the cost of the midliners! They last me such a long time, and they are just light enough to be a pretty addition to my notes while also being effective when reading through.
A WATER BOTTLE YOU LOVE
So finally leaving the note taking supplies, we have a water bottle that you absolutely love. When I get bored in class but I cant be on my phone, I always find myself just constantly sipping from my water bottle. Sometimes ill even put my coffee or an energy drink inside it so I dont have to carry around an alani can or a starbucks cup. I personally love both Stanleys and Owalas, because they both keep my drink extremely cold, and my ice wont melt for like almost 2 days in those! But get yourself a water bottle that you actually use, because staying hydrated is genuinely so important to your health.
A BACKPACK THAT HOLDS EVERYTHING
So this one is a very personal choice, depending on how much stuff you take to school every day. I take a LOT of things to school, so for me I love the north face backpacks or the vera bradley backpacks. The vera bradley ones are so cute and durable, but if you have a water bottle, it doesn't fit very well in the holder in my opinion. But overall, a backpack that is durable, can last you years, and can hold everything you need is SUPER necessary for the school year no matter what grade you are in!
STICKY NOTES
When I started high school, I found out really fast that my sticky notes would finally be used. In 2 months, i went through 5 packs of sticky notes. I used them for everything, from reminders in the morning, to homework reminders, or extra things I needed to add into my notebook when I ran out of space, or even to brain dump formulas before a math test. They are SO useful in high school, and these are definitely a must for everyone!
HEADPHONES OR AIRPODS
These are probably the #1 thing that got me through school last year, other than Chat GPT. I used these for blocking out the obnoxious gum chewing of the guy who sat next to me in my first hour, on the bus when I didnt want to talk to anyone, and to listen to music when I was procrastinating in class. Headphones, airpods, or even wired earbuds will all work the same, but they are absolutely needed to survive the school day.
SNACKS!!!
I know this isnt fully school related, but every school has such weird lunch times, from basically being breakfast, to basically being an early dinner. Snacks to get you through the day are so important if you dont want you're stomach to sound like a monster all day. Anything works, from strawberries and grapes, granola bars, or even leftover halloween candy. You're going to thank me during 7th hour when your stomach starts growling and your prepared. And most teachers honestly dont care if you eat in class, as far as you pay attention and dont make a mess!
PLANNER
I always say Ill use a planner and I never end up actually doing it, but this is coming from someone who has 20+ missing assignments in ELA. Find some way to keep track of your assignments and tests, be it a paper planner, online planner, or even a todo list app. Just find something that works for you.
Now that we've been through that, you might not be ready for school, but atleast your supplies are! And if all else fails (including you), theres always next year! Good luck everyone and enjoy the rest of your summer!!
